Some may know her as a budding screen diva, to some she is simply a talented singer. But for others her rise to celebrity status was when she represented GH at the Season 3 of the famed reality show, Big Brother Africa. Even recently she launched her own clothesline, but perhaps...
...what might come as a surprise to majority of Ghanaians is the fact that Wilhelmina Andani, better known in show-biz circles as Mimi Divalish can really perform a striptease act, albeit in a frenzied manner.
Yours truly is not referring to the erotic or exotic dance in which the performer gradually undresses, usually to music, either partly or completely, in a seductive and sexually suggestive manner. No! But striptease, nonetheless.
Alleged to have credited some made in China dresses at a boutique in Kumasi to the tune of about GH¢2,300, Mimi charged into the offices of PeaceFM at ShipHouse, Abeka Junction, on the evening of Wednesday, March 30, 2011 in an angry and defiant mood ready to wreak havoc on the perpetrators of that spurious allegation.
The crux of the matter was that Abeiku Santana and Ohenenana Kwame Amo (Barman) had through what they describe as “VERBAL CARTOON” alleged on the speculative segment on OkayFM’s Drive- time programme “Akika akika”, that a lady female musician was indebted to a businesswoman to the tune of GH¢2,700 (they initially quoted a wrong figure of GH¢300); by crediting clothes from the lady’s boutique and had refused to pay.
Moments after the show, a furious Mimi, stormed the station and started running riot insisting she was the Ghanaian female musician Abeiku was referring to. Not even the presence of a whole bunch of journalists in the arts and entertainment industry, gathered at the reception of the A-1 station was deterrent enough as she exhibited a behaviour atypical of her.
In a deliberate move and quite uncharacteristic of her, Mimi, as if possessed, pulled up her dress and showed off her yellow coloured panty not once but…for the over fifteen journalists excluding prospective clients who had come to transact business at PeaceFM.
“…Please don’t talk to me, I beg you. No one should say anything to me. I don’t want to hear anything in my ears. I’ve a mind of my own. I’m a 28 year old girl. I’ve a Masters Degree, so I can make decisions… GH¢300? Oh my God! I can spend even more than that in a day…What the fuck!…who gave him the news that this person has come to credit GH¢300 China goods and run away China goods! China. Me wearing China goods?” she asked rather incredulously.
At a point, she performed a re-invented striptease act when she took a seat and pulled the dress up for the people gathered around to have a better view of her “assets”. And what would you do if a “celebrity” pulled off such a stunt to disprove “falsehoods” about her? Of course, you would WATCH! And truth be told, the media INDEED DID WATCH, and never once did they turn their eyes away. Infact, a couple of them, as if they were short-sighted, even went up close to her to observe “things” better.
“...Stupid man, he should come out and tell me whoever gave him that story. Nkwasiaasem…I do not even wear China panties to wear China dresses. Is this made in China (raising her dress to show her panty)? What kind of “Nkwasiasem” (stupid things) is this? Where is Abeiku Santana, he should come and see if this dress is made in China?” Mimi screamed.
