It is only in Ghana`s arts and entertainment industry that it seems there is too much disrespect for people who are owners of intellectual property.

The disrespect seems to be overwhelming at the moment because corporate people who are believed to know better are not even following due process.

At the moment, there is a case on the discussion table of many entertainment platforms where Kingdom Herbal Limited, is reported to have used Castro and D`Black`s 'Seiho' for a television commercial including copying the dance moves in the video of the same song.

Interestingly, this is not the first time such a case is rearing its ugly head in the showbiz industry as it has happened on several occasions without any remedy in sight.

Intellectual Property owners who are supposed to sue for the industry to get a case study are not doing so because of fear of losing some business deals in the corporate world.

At this juncture, many musicians would be expecting the various music institutions to take up the challenge of suing the organizations who are taking advantage of our musicians and intellectual right owners, but nothing is happening like that.

Until some individuals take up the challenge to sue those who are stealing the works of intellectual property owners, the problem will never cease and will continue to disturb us in the face of our economic hardship.

The million dollar question is; “who will bell the cat to free the rest?”

Only time will tell!!!
