Nana Prah Agyensaim V1, Member of Council of State has said that women in the third world need to be encouraged to be self confident.

He said this yesterday at the relaunching of the Obaa Sima magazine, a publication whose focus is the Ghanaian and African woman and their families.

It also serves as a mouth piece for women and highlights cases of human rights abuses against women and children in the society.

The magazine was first published in 1971 but has been off the shelves for a few years. The relaunching was therefore intended to revive the magazine for the benefit of Ghanaian and African women.

The forty -six page magazine has these columns, Kids Club, Poets Corner, Quiet moment with the Pastor, A chat with your Nurse, Fiction, Cookery and other articles and features which educate the Ghanaian woman.

Nana Prah Agyensaim VI said women serve as the guidance of humanity in the country and should therefore "come out openly and rule". He added that women should be given equal opportunity to rule not by themselves but with men.

Nana Prah Agyensaim VI said he hopes that the magazine would assist in getting rid of intrigues and negative attitudes towards women in the country.

"I hope the relaunch of the magazine would contribute to the development of women and the understanding of women by men".

Mrs. Kate Abbam, the publisher of Obaa Sima thanked the printers of the magazine for their contribution towards its relaunch and promised readers that this time it is here to stay.

Mrs. Joyce Wireko- Brobbey, CEO, Ghana Chamber of Mines who launched the magazine said when it went off the shelves the author did not stop contributing towards the welfare of women as she embarked on a programme of nurturing and empowering the women of Ekumfi to realize their potential.

She said the magazine would give women the opportunity to write about issues that bother them.

She added that formal education and reading widens our horizon as we search for knowledge and information.

In another development Mrs. Joyce Wireko - Brobbey again launched "I Shall Return"-romance from the woods. The story was serialized in the past issues of Obaa Sima magazine, and is very much enjoyed by readers who are always curious to know when the next edition is going to come out.

As a result of the demand the editor decided to have the story published on its own, so that readers will not have to read it instalmentally.
