Kumasi-based bodybuilder Kwame Kwakye became the winner of Season III of TV3’s reality show Ghana’s Strongest after emerging the overall winner on Saturday, June 7.
Though Kwakye, popularly known as Barack Obama, was tied on points with debutant Courage Kofi Adukpo, he was crowned the overall winner with a favourable countback by the commissioners. He was tied on 14 points with Adukpo, popularly known as 'Who said tweaaa?' but had won six out of ten challenges over the course of the show.
Last year’s winner, Sanni Mohammed received the wooden spoon this year. He amassed five points after failing to compete in the last event of the final. Kofi Salia came third with nine points.
The final was well attended as the electrified crowd chanted nicknames of the athletes. Barack Obama and ‘Who said Tweaaa’ were the nicknames that came out loudest.
“It has been tough and grueling,” said George Forster Bafoe, one of the Commissioners. “We have to take a tough decision.”
A guest commissioner from the Ghana Armed Forces lent credence to the final result, saying: “It is free and fair.”
Kwakye, who was runner-up last year, walked away with the winning prize of GH¢12,000.
