It is a common thing that happens in other music countries, that is if an artiste thinks that a song his fellow artiste has made is not right he or she replies him or her. For example we could recollect of Sporty Thievz (‘No Pigeons’) counterattacking TLC’s ‘No Scrubs’, Frankee (F**k You) counterattacking Eamon’s ‘Don’t Want You Back’ and others.
Back here in Ghana, Obeyiefoo may be riding on success after releasing a song just ‘to correct’ Sidney’s ‘Obiaa Nye Obiaa’ titled ‘Obi Ye Obi’. Hiplife star, Sidney is not too happy about Obeyiefoo’s new song ‘Obi Ye Obi’ — as readers of this site will remember since they both released their songs.
Sidney is furious, according to sources. When Prime Eye of Solid Gold Countdown asked Obeyiefoo about the contretemps last week Saturday, the young artiste responded by saying Sidney is furious over the song and that they (his camp) should have contacted him before releasing the song or made him enjoy some sales before releasing this song.
“Am not trying to be smart. They play Sidney’s song and mine, so the public gets to really understand everyone’s own”, he said.
Morris Baby face produced Sidney’s song whiles Jay Q produced Obeyiefoo’s song but the songs had the same vocal guidelines with different meanings to their titles.
As Obeyiefoo prepares for his release, the lead single ‘Obi Ye Obi’ is beginning to pick up in different areas of the nation, “and it is receiving great response," said his executive producer.
Obeyiefoo has not wasted any time by hitting the studio to unleash his ideas about 'Tuobodom', which is another song on the album. He has his own ideas and feels like he has to stand for the citizens of ‘Tuobodom’.
Obeyiefoo followed his heart after an unsuccessful start with a group called ‘Pop Corn’ which had Kokovelli as a member. They released ‘Ma Shoola’ which did not go well thus had to go solo.
The result has been solid, an innovative material that can stand on its own as he has been featured on Kokovelli’s ‘Zaaza’ album (4 songs) and ‘African Woman’ on the album of Toyota, K. K. Fosu, Sidney and Kredo Marshall.
He has Castro, Okra, Kokovelli, Kwaw Kese, Dada KD and K. K. Fosu on his debut album.
Some say ‘Obiaa Nye Obiaa’ is for the poor and ‘Obi Ye Obi’ is for the rich but Obeyiefoo seems to be moving as he has it right this time with a production from Q Lex Entertainment.
