Hip-life ?High Priest? Obrafuor sent massive crowds into ecstasy last weekend in Tarkwa, Takoradi and Cape Coast at a series of concerts being staged around the country with ?tiGO?, the cellular network provider.
For one hour at each venue, he held up crowds with his great showmanship and rapping style, with everyone singing along and moving to his beat, including to that of a new track he?s created for Tigo.
Visiting every region as part of a community outreach programme for cellular network ?tiGO?, and an aim to introduce new services to its subscriber base, the tour, dubbed the ?tiGO? Experience Tour?, has on board Obrafour and his dancers, Prince and Joe of TV3?s Mentor II fame, as well as Paa T and his group of dancers, all of who delighted the crowds with their brand of performances.
Also providing some humanitarian assistance to the needy, ?tiGO? presented a cheque to the District Hospital in the mining town of Tarkwa in the Western Region for the release of a mother who lost her child after delivery and was being detained for her inability to settle her hospital bills.
This was before the big musical explosion at the Tarkwa Catering School Park, where by 6pm, a milling crowd with high expectations had gathered.
Paa T, the 2002 national dance champion and his boys opened the show to great applause, and MC Papa Sly was in his element, joining and doing a jig with the dancers to much cheer.
Everywhere they went, the crowds were not left out of the fun as they were engaged on stage with a rap and dancing competition, using the word ?tiGO? to do freestyle rapping. Those who were bold enough to get on stage were rewarded with ?tiGO? hampers.
At Takoradi the lady rap freestylist Sena Dagadou often on stage with Reggie Rockstone joined the train. She did a fantastic performance in both Takoradi and at the London Bridge in Cape Coast where the crowd was so huge that, they turned the show into a street carnival.
Prince and Joe did a good presentation of their acts but at each concert in each town, the highlight was always Obrafuor who never disappointed, and held the crowd on their feet dancing, and rapping along.
In Tarkwa he was mobbed after the show and he had to be whirled into waiting car by his security detail.
This weekend, the train will be in Swedru, with a bus load of ?Tigo? goodies for those who will be bold enough to mount up stage to join in the competition. And for sure, Obrafuor will be along to entertain the crowds.
With production by Entertainment Revolution, you can be sure that each concert will be an experience.
