Tema, April 25, GNA- A 19-year-old office assistant who was engaged in March this year by a company and forged the signature of the managing director to steal 20 million cedis has been remanded by the Tema circuit court "A".

Annobil Frederick who pleaded not guilty to charges of forgery of documents will reappear on May 19.

Police Chief Inspector Mary Assunta, told the court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that on April 9, 2004, the managing director of South Eastern Trade Links at community six who engaged the accused as an office assistant, detected that the accused had attempted to forge her signature, removed a leaflet from her cheque book and drew the attention of a witness.

She said on April 13, the complainant issued two cheques out with different face values but they were all dishonoured and asked her bankers for her statement.

The prosecution said the complainant detected the withdrawal of 20 million cedis that had been made on one of the cheques dated March 31, 2004.

Chief Inspector Assunta said investigation showed that signature on that cheque was forged.
