Official Kwame has finally premiered his much anticipated single ‘5 Fingers’.
The record produced by Kuvie features South Africa’s Sho Majjozi.
“5 Fingers was inspired by the iconic cocktail of the same name from Purple Pub in Osu, which is one of the first places I went to when I moved to Ghana.” Official Kwame explained. “Kuvie gave me the beat to play on air about a year ago and I chose to keep it.
I originally wrote the track completely in English but because I missed Botswana (where I grew up) so much, I decided to translate it to make it sweeter. I played the instrumental for Sho Madjozi when she came to Ghana, she loved it, recorded her verse and 15mins later, 5 Fingers was complete.”
Speaking on why he decided to veer into music in 2017, Kwame Kardashian disclosed; “Music has always been the one thing I am most passionate about, but I have an incredible amount of respect for the art so I’ve been incredibly afraid of actually getting into the field. Hence, all of my work in entertainment has danced around the world of music.
From theatre, styling and management in my earlier years to of course TV & radio now.
“But I have been writing music, treatments, sources beats etc. for as long as I can remember. I just had to stop procrastinating, let go of my fears, find myself a bit and dive in. Figure out what I want to project and how. So this is only the beginning.
“My perspective is also a bit different because I’ve had a little time to skirt around almost various angles of music before actually being in THE ARTIST so I’m curious to see where it goes.
Official Kwame also revealed there will be a follow up to 5 Fingers within the next few months.
“I have so much planned visually and physically that I want people to experience with this song first, but after that there will be more music, visuals, art and eventually an EP.”
