The Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) witnessed yet another class act of a performance by Rocky Dawuni at his annual Independence Splash Concert, last Friday.
The night was a good one but patronage was poor. ?It was wicked? said two young men, Francis and Emmanuel who had danced through most of Dawuni?s repertoire.
From Shake It through Afro beats to Book of Changes which is also the title of his latest album.
Rocky who was accompanied on stage by DJ Afro Funke from California sparkled bringing joy to his many fans who flocked the AICC.
Rocky got the audience to go along with him. Most of his songs made more danceable and performed creditably by the live band had the audience on their feet.
Other seasoned musicians who also rocked the AICC with music of all types included Mac Tontoh of Osibisa fame.
Setting the pace for the evening Mac Tonto fired up the audience to rolicking tunes from good old Osibisa. It was just great.
Batman treated patrons to some danceable hiplife tunes.That young man hardly fails to excite.
Also on the bill was Paapa Yankson who started on a slow note but quickened the pace with songs from his repertoire ending the first part.
Gyedu Blay Ambolley raised the curtain on the second part of the concert with refreshing songs as well as a beautiful performance.
It was not only his music but his antics and well rehearsed dance routine that endeared him to the audience.
A.B Crentsil was on hand to thrill the audience. His powerful voice rang through the hall as he moved to give patrons their money?s worth.
Wearing a white suit with a brown pair of trousers, Rex Omar opened his act with Born African. He was backed by his Nu Ashanti Band.
