Hip-life artiste, Ofori Amponsah, last Saturday, organized a party for street children in Accra at the Holy Gardens, Kwame Nkrumah Circle. This was part of the artiste’s new campaign to help alleviate the suffering of the destitute and the homeless. Street children, especially those around the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, made it to the Holy Gardens to enjoy meals and dance to the music of ‘Mr. All for Real’.

Flanked by his right hand man, Kofi Nti, and some underground artistes like Richie Rich, Dot Com and Bone Flex, Ofori Amponsah gave out a splendid performance for his ‘guests’.

He later pledged to adopt and make yearly donations to the SOS Village in Tema. He says it is a way of giving back to society what has been given him. “I believe I should share my wealth with the under-privileged and less fortunate in society. I know my success is owed to them and I think I should also do something to help those who need help”.

Ofori Amponsah also intends to help street hustlers who are endowed with musical talent. Being the first hip-life artiste in the country to have organized such a charity event, Ofori Amponsah assured the children on the street of his commitment to his campaign and pledged to organize the party every other year.

His manager, Mofti of Peace FM says they hope to solve half of the problems of the under privileged and homeless in society in the next five years. “Our plan is that, in the next five years, we will find a decent place for at least half of you to do business and to lay your heads.”

As part of the celebration, a dancing competition was organized for the street kids. As the kids danced, onlookers made cash donations. The monies will be donated to those living and doing business on the streets.
