Oil city folks are ungrateful to me – Pappy Kojo

Pappy Kojo Worry Pappy Kojo

Pappy Kojo, also known as Realer No, recently released another single together with an exquisite music video – the masterpiece was titled “Nyame Bra.”

Well, it is quite unusual of Pappy Kojo to apparently compose a saintly track like “Nyame Bra.” However, he proved to us once again that he has a penchant for vulgar lyrics. Okay, those are contentious matters for debate on another day though. But my concern here is Pappy’s sheer disappointment in the people of Sekondi-Takoradi, the Oil City.

T’adi Obrafour bemoaned the fact Oil City folks do not appreciate his good works in the name of his native city. Indeed, Fante Van Damme did not mince words and bluntly told the people of his proud city that they are simply ungrateful.

He rapped, “…Ma m’ay3 ama T’adi nyinaa so wanda m’ase…,” which is translated into English as, “…Upon all the things I’ve done for T’adi, they didn’t thank me…” But was his complaint justifiable?

I happened to be on Kyzz 89.7 FM’s weekly entertainment review programme today from 12:00 to 3:00pm as a panelist. And we actually dissected this dicey issue.

The able host, Asaasewura Santana Jr. posted earlier on his Facebook page that, “The first question that came to mind was, ‘What has Pappy Kojo done for T’adi?’ Maybe I’m new here and will need some education!

Did he build some school, hospital or something? Or because of his ‘Yiwo Dross’ we haven’t heard before? Pappy listen, Takoradi doesn’t hail profanity. These people will hail you if you do sensible songs like ‘Susuka,’ not ‘Ay3 Late,’ and the like.”
