Mark Okraku-Mantey has received a lot of bashing over comments that GHOne TV’s host Berla Mundi was not a suitable MC for 2018 edition Vodafone Ghana music awards.
Speaking on Joy FM‘s Showbiz A-Z, Mark stated that Berla Mundi as the lead MC for the biggest night in the history of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards was a bad choice.
He said Berla Mundi was below the standard Charterhouse has raised over the years.
“Per the standards and track record of Ghana Music Awards that I know, Berla Mundi should not have been the lead MC but a support,” he said.
But the comment didn’t sit well with some Ghanaians, who came hard at him.
Among them were ace sports journalist Michael Oti Adjei and broadcast journalist Nana Aba Anamoah, who have jumped to Berla Mundi’s defence.
“Begs the question what standard, what track record. A lot of bollocks,” Oti tweeted.
Nana Aba also described Mark in a tweet as “Mr know it all”. The host of State of Affairs on GHOne TV added that Berla Mundi earned that role because she’s hardworking.
“Mr know it all. @berlamundi works hard; she earned this.”
“Unless Mark is suggesting that he is wiser than members of the Charter House team who decided on Berla,” she added.
She finally left an advice for Mark Okraku Mantey, tweeting, “Encouragement is oxygen to the human spirit. Someone should tell Mark that it pays not to always dull people’s sparkle”.
