Okyeame Kwame, true to his word has redeemed his pledge of raising funds to support the Ghana Paralympics Team’s effort at qualification to the Olympics in Rio later this year.

It will be recalled that in April this year, Okyeame Kwame, touched by the plight of the Paralympics Team, pledged to help the team raise an amount of US$40,000.00 to aid their travels. To accomplish this, Okyeame Kwame lined up a series of Fundraising activities climaxed by “Music and Wheels” a concert organised at the +233 Jazz Bar and Grill.

Presenting the cheque to the National Sports Authority, Mrs. Nanayaa Prempeh, Board Member of the Okyeame Kwame Foundation, thanked Dan deVen Group of Companies, Starlife Assurance, Comet Properties, Wilmar Ghana, Unibank and all generous individuals who contributed to this cause. “We are extremely grateful to all our sponsors, both corporate and individual who have supported our efforts. We have been able to raise about GH¢21,874.00 in cash and US$8,000.00 in pledges.

This presentation does not signify the end of our efforts; we are still collecting donations for the team. Unfortunately, Okyeame Kwame cannot be here in person because he is in the USA with the team to offer his support. We wish the team the best of luck and know that they will do the nation proud.

Mr. Joshua Mensah, Director of Sports (Technical) of the National Sports Authority expressed his gratitude on behalf of the Minister of Sports, The Sports Authority and the entire Paralympics team. He also called on other organisations and bodies to come to the aid of the Paralympians.

Mr. Saka Acquaye, Deputy Director-General (Technical), in his remarks also thanked the Okyeame Kwame Foundation for their sacrifice and promised that the funds will be put to the use for which it is intended.
