Okyeame Kwame performs controversial song with Obour at D2R

Former president of the Musicians Union of Ghana Bice Osei Kuffour (Obour) honoured the invitation of Okyeame Kwame to perform ‘The Game’ – a song they recorded and released a decade ago – at this year’s edition of Decemba2Rememba.

After his entry with ‘Woso’, Okyeame Kwame who touts himself as the Best Rapper Alive, asked Obour seated in the audience, to join him on stage for the epic performance.

A nostalgic feeling it was as patrons reminisced the controversy the song stoked at the time of its release. The record which chronicled some cankers bedeviling the music industry and proffered solutions, was not welcomed by all stakeholders back in the day. Some remarked that the actions and solutions enumerated by the two musicians on the song, cannot be the panacea when they refuse to offer assistance to colleagues.

Counter-attacking the piece, dancehall artiste Shatta Rako released ‘Killing the Game’.

“You’re killing the game with your little fame. See the way they’re going insane,” some lines of the song said. “First of all check out your profile. You know you’re the number one pedophile…. Cry your own cry. You opened your mouth say you’re the best rapper alive. From your one way, you’re not versatile.”

Regardless, Okyeame Kwame kept on propagating his message and stressed on the need to change the narrative.

At Decemba2Rememba, Tuesday, Obour and Okyeame Kwame, through the performance, reminded stakeholders that the challenges still persist.

Decemba2Rememba is a concert which has been organized by Citi FM for the past 13 years. Held on Christmas Eve, it has provided quality entertainment to patrons during the Yuletide and has thus been touted the ‘Official Christmas Party.’

This year’s edition came off at the Fantasy Dome and saw performances from Kofi Kinaata, Kuami Eugene, Krymi, Kelvyn Boy, Adina, Praye, DopeNation, KiDi, Tulenkey, OB Amponsah and Mmebusem.
