Opera Mauritius team treats Ghanaians to classical songs

A four-member team of Opera Mauritius will treat classical music lovers to a thrilling stage performance on Sunday evening at the Christ the King Parish Hall in Accra.

The two-hour Classical Music performance starts from 1900 hours to 2100 hours and will feature Ms Veronique Zuel, an award winning singer, Mr Jean-Michel Ringadoo, Mr Dean Nookadu and Darriana Amerally.

The performance christened the “2018 Easter Cantata Classical Music Festival,” will be one of the evenings to remember as diplomats and top business executives within the local and international community in the country shall be treated with high class relaxing classical pieces.

The musical performance was organised by the Classical Music Association of Ghana (CMAG) in partnership with the Opera Mauritius with support from the Ministry of Arts and Culture of Mauritius, as part of efforts to provide alternative executive entertainment in the country.

The CMAG seeks to create a critical mass of classical music lovers in the country and make the country, the hub of classical music in the sub-region.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Accra ahead of the event, Ms Zuel said she was pleased to be in Ghana for the performance, stressing that they were poised to give Ghanaians the best of classical music.

She said the event was also to create awareness about classical music in the country and encouraged Ghanaians to appreciate classical music since it drove attention and focused more on emotions, drama and passion.

She said the visit was the second time after performing in 2017 in Accra and Kumasi, and was optimistic that the performance would stimulate the audience with classical songs.
