Experienced local gospel songstress, Ophelia Nyantakyi who hitherto was evasive on the question of divorce has finally opened up on the topic and cleared the air on the rumors.
Speaking in a press interview during her 20th anniversary in the music industry, the gospel musician responded to the question of her name change and confirmed to Zionfelix that she had divorced her husband, Mr. Collins Nyantakyi.
The “Ebenezer” song maker however went on to reveal that even though she was separated from her husband, she did not have any problem with him because they had children together. She said they kept constant communication with him as well.
She revealed all of this information when the question of her new name popped up. According to the musician, she was no longer going to be known by the name Ophelia Nyantakyi but by the new name, Ophelia Abena Serwaa; giving some credence to the divorce rumors.
The “Tumi Wura” hit maker who also doubles as a fashion designer revealed that the name change was also a way of branding to project her image and her business.
She explained that her business, ABS collection was an abbreviation for Abena Serwaa
She added that it was a personal decision she took to use her ‘local’ name to rebrand and project her image.
Some years back, there were reports that the music couple had parted ways but both Collins and Ophelia Nyantakyi refused to comment on the news making rounds about their divorce.
