Accra, July 30, GNA - A passenger in a taxicab on Wednesday slapped a policeman who said he was helping the driver to correct an error on his insurance certificate.

Corporal Augustine Essel from the Madina Police District Headquarters said Mr. Marlu Issah gave him two slaps for stopping the taxi he was riding in at the Madina Zongo junction.

Speaking to the GNA, Corporal Essel said he stopped the taxicab to inspect its documents.

He said he realised that there was an error in the expiry date of the insurance sticker, which did not tally with the expiry date of the insurance certificate.

Corporal Essel said he asked the driver to alight from the taxicab so that he could direct him to a nearby office of an insurance agent for the correction to be effected.

However, Mr. Issah the only passenger alighted from the taxi, held his uniform and slapped him twice.

Passers-by who were attracted by the noise from the slaps assisted the policeman to arrest Mr Issah.
