Entertainment pundit, MC Yaa Yeboah, has said that she is pleased with the sentencing of Pastor Hammond Love, well known as Pastor Love, to 48 months in prison.

According to her, the pastor’s despicable behavior on social media, including insulting people over disagreements, makes her believe reports that he was arrogant in court.

She pointed out that Pastor Love's decision to outsmart the individual he had a car dealing with in a dubious manner, coupled with his alleged rude attitude in court, makes the sentencing a deserving one and hopes it teaches him a lesson.

During the United Showbiz aired on UTV on October 5, 2024, MC Yaa Yeboah said, “It is unfortunate Pastor Love allowed this to happen, but as for me, I am very happy about it. We are all not perfect, but we have to learn to treat people with respect. The lawyer said during the court hearing, he displayed some level of arrogance. Although I don’t know him personally, per his actions I have seen on social media, boasting and insulting others, I’m not surprised.

“You used your own money to retrieve a vehicle from the port, and the person wanted to pay the fee and take his car. How wicked can you be that the person gave you the owed amount, yet you refused to tell him the whereabouts of the car? Is he trying to show his superiority or what?”

Background

Pastor Love was jailed for 48 months by an Accra Circuit Court for stealing a car.

Pastor Love was taken to court in 2017 for selling a car without the owner's consent.

According to the prosecution, the complainant, Samuel Amankwah, shipped a Toyota Highlander into the country in 2016 and asked Pastor Love to clear it.

After clearing the car, Amankwah asked Pastor Love to sell it for Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00) and deduct the money for clearing the car from it.

He later rescinded this decision because he was scheduled to be in Ghana in April 2017, so he could pay Pastor Love the money for clearing the car.

However, when he arrived in Ghana, Pastor Love could not produce the car despite several demands.

When Pastor Love was arrested for failing to produce the car, he explained that he had secured a loan of Forty Thousand cedis (GH¢40,000.00) with 20% interest to clear the car.

He said the loan was accruing more interest, so he sold the car without Amankwah's consent for Eighty Thousand cedis (GH¢80,000) and gave Seventy Thousand cedis (GH¢70,000.00) to the loan company.

He, however, could not lead the police to the said loan company and was unable to show the police the person who bought the car.

When the case was called before His Honour Isaac Addo, Pastor Love pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy since he is a first-time offender and was ready to pay any fine, but his plea was rejected.
