Accra, Jan 13. GNA - Pastor Godfred Ohene of the Faith Evangelical Free Church, Batsona was on Tuesday arraigned before an Accra Circuit Court for assaulting his 40 year-old wife, Doris Ohene, a trader at Amansaman.

Pastor Ohene pleaded guilty and was granted 10 million cedis bail to reappear for sentencing on February 10.

Police Inspector Mary Agbozo of the Women and Juvenile Unit (WAJU) told the court, presided over by Mrs Elizabeth Ankumah that the pastor and his wife had been married for nine years and have an eight year old son, but due to series of misunderstandings they separated. She said the couple were reunited on December 18, last year by their families.

The court was told that the pastor came home on December 21, 2003 and picked up a quarrel with his wife for not preparing a meal for him although he did not give any money for the meal. Inspector Agbozo said, the pastor gave the wife slaps on her face and threw her belongings outside.
