An Accra Circuit Court on Monday remanded in custody a pastor for allegedly defrauding an accountant of 19 million cedis.

Pastor Desmond Dodoo, who pleaded not guilty, would appear again on December 3. The prosecution told the court that on August 8, the complainant, Mr Matthew Drah, met Dodoo at the Action Chapel on the Spintex Road and discussed his inability to secure a visa to travel to the United States.

The accused told Mr Drah to give him 15 million cedis to procure a visa and a ticket for him and promised he would deliver them within a week.

Although he could not honour his promise, he requested for and was given additional four million cedis to complete the transaction.

The accused eventually failed to secure the visa and the ticket and could not pay back the money after several demands. The complainant therefore reported to the police and he was arrested.
