The founder and leader of Heaven's Gate Ministries, Prophet Nicholas Osei, popularly known as Kumchacha, has accused the board pastors overseeing the construction of the National Cathedral of misusing funds for their gain.

In an interview on Kwaku Manu TV, Kumchacha claimed that the delays in the Cathedral’s completion stemmed from financial mismanagement.

He specifically pointed to pastors like Archbishop Duncan Williams and Mensa Otabil, alleging they mishandled funds after resigning from the board.

"The first pastor to resign as a board member of the National Cathedral was Mensa Otabil, followed by Duncan Williams, and their reasons for quitting were due to a lack of transparency," he explained.

"I can confidently say that the $58 million allocated for the construction has been squandered. Duncan Williams and Mensa Otabil are among those who mismanaged the money," he added.

Kumchacha also criticised pastors who preach in English, suggesting that many do so to appear legitimate to their congregations.

"Some people believe that pastors who preach in English are superior to those who speak Twi, but that's not true. Most of these pastors are fake; they use English to brand themselves and deceive people," he stated.

Background

In 2023, Pastor Mensa Otabil, founder and General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), resigned from the Board of Trustees.

According to a statement from Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee, Otabil had opted to leave the board before its official induction.
