Pastors preach with 'Susuka', 'Confession' – Kinaata

Singer and rapper Kofi Kinaata has said some pastors and men of God use lyrics from his songs Susaka and Confession to drive home their point during sermons and that has taught him to be cautious in the choice of words he uses in his songs.

He said lecturers also use his songs to cite examples during classes.

The Confession hit maker said these on Entertainment Capital on Accra100.5FM on Saturday, 29 July 2017. His comment was in reaction to praises from show host Bismark Boachie (DJ Premier) on the choice of lyrics he uses in his songs which are devoid of profanity.

Kinaata noted that it has come to his attention that influential and respectable elders in the society listen to his songs and out of respect for them and his listeners, he chooses to be decent with his lyrics.

“For someone to listen to your song, you have to respect them. You have to know your target audience and put the listeners first. For someone to follow you, download your songs and take their attention, you have to respect them. My listeners vary and I’m humbled to tell you influential people in society listen to my music, so I have to be decorous in my lyrics,” he stated.

He continued: “I have friends who tell me; ‘My pastor preached with your song Confession or Susaka in church today’. People also come to me and tell me their lecturers used my song Susuka or Confession to give examples during their class and that tells me that certain people listen to my song and so I have to say the right things and not embarrass myself.”

The award-winning musician has released a new song titled Last Show.
