It is not a new phenomenon for couples to become distant or even break up because of their partners’ career paths.
Legendary Ghanaian Highlife musician and actress, Paulina Oduro recounts how she parted ways with her ex-husband and father of her first child because of her choice to fully pursue music as a career.
In an interview with Deloris Frimpong Manso, host of ‘The Delay Show’, the gifted musician narrated into details how she gave up her ex-husband for music.
According to her, choosing music as a full-time career was ‘too much’ for her ex-husband.
“The music profession I chose was too much for him. He said he did not meet me as a musician, if he did, he wouldn’t have been involved with me in the first place,” she said.
Paulina explained that the divorce did not make them strangers again, and they have been able to maintain their relationship by becoming best of friends.
“He expected that I would stop chasing music along the way so we could maintain our relationship, but I did not stop. However, we are best of friends now,” she concluded.
Paulina and her former husband, who is from Dominican Republic divorced when her first daughter was seven.
