Versatile highlife musician, Nana Quame, has revealed that he pays “payola” and urged other musicians to also pay. He disclosed this in an interview on the ‘Weekend Train’ with Nii Boye on Radio GIJ.
The money paid to Media Houses to keep songs and videos on air is what is referred to as ‘Payola’. Most musicians deny ever paying Payola.
Award-winning musician, Nana Quame revealed he paid if he only had the money on him.
The ‘waye waye’ hit-maker pleaded with musicians to pay Payola. He said, “if you have the money, I’m pleading with my fellow musicians, please pay. It’s not about how good you are. It’s not about that. Let’s be honest.”
Nana Quame has released hit songs since the 90’s and continues to stand tall in the highlife genre.
