Ghanaian singer Beeztrap KOTM has spoken about his journey to the limelight and stardom.

According to him, although he has been working very hard to make music in recent years, he had no recognition and was unknown to many music lovers.

He mentioned that most people who saw his name credited to or featured on a song thought he was the disc jockey (DJ) or sound engineer on the song.

“I have done many songs and been around for a while, but before ‘Fly Girl’, I was having recognition issues. A lot of people do not know me as a musician.

“So, I had hit songs, and people didn’t even know I was behind them. Someone once saw me and thought I was a DJ. They thought I was like DJ Khalid, who is mostly featured on songs without necessarily singing,” Beeztrap KOTM told Delay on the Delay show.

On the same show, Beeztrap KOTM spoke about how Sarkodie and Mugeez shaped his music and budding career.

He explained that Sarkodie had been a major influence on his musical journey, making the recognition all the more meaningful.

"Sarkodie was someone I followed for years, so if he has posted me, why shouldn’t I be happy? Within that period, he texted me that he would send me a track... The following week, his manager called me, saying Sark had a song and wanted to send it to me to listen to.”

On Mugeez, he said, he influenced his singing a lot.

“Growing up, my mentor in music has always been a Ghanaian. I admire and used to listen to Mugeez a lot. I used to listen to him and learn from him a lot. In fact, I still listen to his music to date,” he said.
