Petty politics, lack of wisdom responsible for dumsor crisis - KSM

Veteran Ghanaian comedian Kwaku Sintim-Misa, aka KSM, has voiced his frustration over what he describes as "petty politics" plaguing Ghana.

In a recent YouTube video, the host of The KSM Show lamented the reduction of politics to a level of pettiness that, in his view, has led to a lack of practical solutions for the country's ongoing power crisis, known locally as 'dumsor'.

KSM pointed out the absurdity of politicians claiming to have 'failed better' than their predecessors rather than addressing the current challenges.

"The problem we have in Ghana is what I call petty politics. I have never seen politics reduced to such a level of pettiness. The politics have become so petty that our politicians are starting to think petty themselves.

"They say that even if they fail, they have failed better than the previous government. It doesn't make sense. We are in a dumsor crisis, and if there were wise leaders in this country, we wouldn't be going through what we are going through," he said.

He also highlighted the financial strain many businesses in the country face, including his own.

The comedian called for a more proactive approach from the government, suggesting the implementation of a power schedule to help businesses plan accordingly.

He also criticised the lack of such measures, attributing it to a desire among current leaders to appear superior to the previous administration rather than solving the problem at hand.

"They are aware of what we are going through. They know the extent of the problem we are facing. So even if it was just for one month, just say, 'Oh yeah, we are going through dumsor, but for the next month, here's a schedule for businesses, for this, this, this.' Even if it's just one month, it's okay.

"Come up with a schedule. We'll all be happy, and we'll praise you for your proactive thinking.

"But you know why there's no schedule? Because there was dumsor under the NDC, and they are trying to prove they are better. So, you see, it's a wisdom problem," he said.

KSM's remarks come as the country battles a situation of incessant power outages that has affected the lives and livelihoods of many Ghanaians.
