Philipa Ends Tour ? Returns With Fresh Enthusiasm

Kumasi-based gospel songstress Philipa Baafi has returned with a lot of enthusiasm from a three-month long trip to six European countries.

“The first reason why I travelled to Europe was to feature on a recording that was put together by City Records which is a division of Sony Records”, she told Showbiz last Monday.

Another reason for the trip, she said, was to perform for the Ghanaian communities in those countries with the view to promoting her current album ‘Yesu Ye Me Last Stop’. According to the musician, she toured Italy, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany and Austria.

“I held a concert in Italy, performed at a live show in Amsterdam as well as ministered in some countries”.

She revealed that her European trip revealed to her that she has a huge following in Europe. “It was very humbling for me to know that a lot of Ghanaians living in Europe could identify with any music.

It really overwhelms me”, she said. Her gratitude goes to Anane Frimpong, the Chief Executive Officer of Frimprince Music Production for promoting her album so effectively to make it popular. “He is one of the few producers who deal with their artistes in a very grateful to him”.

Philipa Baafi also runs a beauty clinic in Kumasi called Philibells Health and Beauty Clinic with which she represents a German company called Weyergan Health and Beauty Clinic. “I took the opportunity of my journey to Europe to learn more about my beauty therapy profession with the company I represent”.

‘Yesu Ye Me Last Stop’ happens to be her third album with the preceding ones being ‘Mogya No Akasa’ and ‘Oyeso Nyame’. “I am currently working on my fourth album but I? am waiting upon the Lord to give me direction as to when to release it”.

Philipa Baafi attended St. Monica’s Secondary at Asante Mampong on government scholarship after which she trained as a beautician and practiced for a while before deciding on a music career.

“I am very grateful to my fans for staying with me and wish to tell them that this is just the beginning”.
