Ace radio, television talk show host and entrepreneur, Akumaa Mama Zimbi, one of Ghana's most celebrated faces on the African continent, has remained consistent with the decent way of dressing and the type of fabric she wears.

Apart from receiving a number of awards and nominations, including recently being awarded female radio presenter of the year at the GN Bank Awards, has written a beautiful career CV for herself from her days in the popular television drama series, ‘Cantata’ as an Actress, and now championing the course of women and good family values.

But today, we look at the fashion sense of this celebrated Ghanaian and her unrelenting showcase of African prints and designs. Akumaa has carved a niche for herself with her preference for African dressing. Her usually huge ‘Géle’ with beads as accessories have become her trademark.

Wearing the headgear no matter the occasion, makes Mama Zimbi one of the most talked about in the entertainment circles, especially fashionistas.

Notwithstanding the praises and admiration she gains from many Ghanaians, others have criticised her for what they describe as being overly colourful, accessorised and the famous oversized ‘Géle’.

Interestingly, others say her fashion sense is mostly light up with the Ghana flag or the Ghanaian prints; probably to portray how much she loves her country, which to them is commendable

The a subtle debate about using the ‘Géle’ for special occasions- weddings and parties- but not just any social gathering, seems to be questioning Mama Zimbi's use the Nigerian material always.

For some, the debate should not be about her wearing for every occasion but whether or not she rocks it or not. To some, headgear, be it big or small, should not really matter except when it creates an unmatched fashion.
