Though the maiden edition of FASHION ICON AWARDS that was held on Saturday, 6th of September, 2014, at the plush La Palm Beach Hotel, Accra, has come and gone, the fact remains that it left participants with such a memorable moments of glitz and glamour; celebration of African wears, models and music.
The event which was graced by the crème de la crème in fashion, entertainment industry and other dignitaries like the distinguished British High Commissioner, UNAIDS Country Director - Girmay Haile, King of Igbo in Ghana - Chuks Ihenetu, Vlisco brand ambassador - Eugenia Tachie-Menson, Nana Tiaah Darkoa I, and Ministry of Tourism representative.
Among other notable celebs who made appearance at the event are Selassie Ibrahim, Ruff-n-Smooth, DKB, Praye, Elikem, Sell among others.
Though the event started hours behind schedule, as it is part of majority of events organizers in Accra, it was however rated as one of the most loaded events of 2014, because when it finally kicked off, it was an amazing unveiling of African wears with fusion of the best of music, comedy like never before.
The Red Carpet saw different array of apparels. It had a colourful ambiance of excellence. Before then, all VVIP attendees were treated to a Limousine ride, which added glitz to the glamour of the evening.
Fashion parade with the likes of Allan David Collection, House of Eccentric and Mina Evans, also added some sparkles to the event while ChrisKata and her fellow hype man- Merqury Quaye from Sound City Ghana handled proceedings all night long.
Artistes that performed included Wiyaala Noella, Sala, Chemphe, Alberto. Rib cracking comedians like Hogan, Baba Spirit and Elaff all kept the mood alive.

In an interview with the organizer of the event, Bashiru Wasiu Ayinde, on the objective of the event, he said: “the objective of this event is to celebrate Ghanaian fashion industry and the promoters of it. We believe that what you appreciate, doesn’t depreciate.”
