Poem: This is the time

I

Many are the years wasted,

At the throat of each other were we.

Carelessly but consciously did we

Tear and ensnare our best brains.

Others we blamed gracefully.

In our constant bouts of failures,

The sun was dimmed where we failed,

The moon was swept into jet gloom.

The axis on which our lives navigated

Without a third thought was breached.

Our shared humanity was debased,

As the sly self swayed the scale in one way.

The altar of sacrifice was starved ceaselessly.

Those were the days we loved conditionally.

II

But the uncertainties of tomorrow bid us

To love propriety as posterity beckons.

Careless can we not be with the little at hand

And turn tomorrow with cups in hand

To beg those who were wise with theirs.

From the echelons of leadership

To the minions of the privileged,

On the deck of growth must all hearts be.

Now is the time or never will our stars shine.
