Heavily pregnant gospel musician Obaapa Christy defied the scorching sun to entertain orphans with a live performance at Class Media Group’s Celebrity Orphanage Easter Funfair at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park in Accra on Easter Monday 17 April.

Obaapa Christy, clad in a white dress, was surrounded by the children who danced and sang along to her hit song Hyebre Sesafo.

Present at the event were movie stars Lucky Lawson, Vicky Zugah, among others.

As part of the activities for the day, children from selected orphanages in the Greater Accra Region were taken through health screening and fun games.

The selected orphanages were Teshie Orphanage, Potters’ Village, Chosen Home, Osu Children’s Home, Save Them Young, and Christ Faith.

Speaking during the event, General Manager of CMG, Nana Apeanti, explained that the company was not in existence to only make profit but to also give out to society, hence the event.

In addition to such events, he indicated that it has been the mission of the company to ensure that the general public is educated as a way of empowering people to make the country and the entire world a better place to live. For this reason, all the outlets under the group have made it a point to develop content geared towards educating the public.

“We are providing education to the people on radio to empower them to effect changes in the communities they find themselves. Every content we generate is geared towards ensuring that people are educated,” he said.

He further indicated that since the inception of the company, the management has embarked on several gestures as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

He said an amount of GHS50,000 was donated to single mothers to assist them in educating their children and also to serve as seed capital to start a business.

“CMG gave out GHS50,000 to single mothers to enable them support their children’s education. This was also used as seed capital with which many started some small businesses with to enable them make ends meet. Class FM visited big and small hospitals on Mother’s Day to support our mothers in the hospitals. We have come not only to make profit but to ensure we contribute to make Ghana and the world a better place for us to live,” he noted.

Some of the kids who interacted with ClassFMonline.com expressed their appreciation to the management of CMG for initiating this event.

According to the children, this gesture is a priceless one since they do not often get such treats.

They appealed to the management to continue such events to make them feel part of Ghanaian society.

The Celebrity Orphanage Easter Funfair brought children from the selected orphanages to one location to socialise and interact with selected Ghanaian celebrities to make them feel loved and entertained during the Easter festivities.

CMG donated assorted drinks and biscuits, bags of rice and toiletries to all the orphanages present.
