Music producer cum artiste, Ephraim Churchill Gakpertor better known as Ephraim Music has told Flex newspaper that music production done for Ghanaian artistes does not pay.

He has been around as an artiste but concentrated more on music production but at the moment, Ephraim who is spearheading both and still working as a producer has noticed that although both pays, music does better than production.

“Producing for Ghanaian artistes doesn’t pay. They don’t like to pay after production. I have done works for about 90% of Ghanaian artistes but I will say only 10% pay for what is done for them. It’s been like that, they think that, you are family and all so if the song becomes a hit, that’s all, you don’t get to hear from them again. You will be calling and chasing after your money which sometimes never comes,” he lamented.

This he says has slowed his work in the music industry as not much of his production is heard after he opted for the pay before work attitude. “I have some few people I produce for which means if you want to me to work for you, I mention my charge, you pay then work is done and thus if you look at the industry now, you will realize, my work isn’t so much in there because in getting my money you will have to pay outright before work,” Ephraim stated.

In to his music business, he released Broken Heart last year and for 2017, he has got couple of songs for both audio and video hopefully coming out in June and also will be looking forward to launch his album on the 2nd September. Ephraim has two major collaborations with artistes in Nigeria, another with Sarkodie, Luther, Kofi Kinaata, Dadie Opanka and Teeplow all on his upcoming album.

He finally took a swipe at the music industry where he said: “I think now we are moving as at before when artistes were not being paid enough but now, they are able to charge huge amount to perform. But on the whole, it will be better if our perception change and we learn to accept and promote our own. For there will be a time where artistes will forgo free shows looking at how much money they put in their production and branding.”

He added his fans should watch out for him as he drops hits after hits and everybody should keep supporting him as according to him, he won’t let them down.
