Prof. D. Releases Maiden Album.

Prof. D who refuses to give his real name because he wants his alias to stick in people?s head started singing a young boy. He began in secondary school to put down his lyrics which he says have come in handy when he decided to compile his many songs on an album.

With a diploma in Business Studies from the Ho Polytechnic where he completed in 1992, Prof. D says he discovered his skill at composing songs while in secondary school at Osei Tutu secondary school, Kumasi.

Prof. D has finally put together eight songs on an album titled Kyere Me. Opening with the title track Kyere Me a highlife intended to be on the third track, but on the first, it begins with a nice keyboard intro followed by the bass guitar and the vocal led by Prof. D later supported by Charley.

In a beautiful instrumental arrangement, programmed, recorded and mixed by Charley of Cold Eyes Studio, Malmo, Sweden, it turns out to be a fitting opener for the album. A rap inset in the song is handled well by Robert of Denmark. Maye Basaa the next track is reggae refreshing with lyrics that talk about a lover who has disorganised him.

In Wonfa Ma Me a highlife with a funky beat expected to be on track one, turned out to be another good piece which confirms that Prof. D has arrived. His velvety voice and the inflections it gives in the song go to enhance their beauty.

Backed by Ricky of Denmark, the song attains a harmony truly entertaining. Last on Side A is Kwantuni which takes the tune of an old song Akwaa Kwaa Ohieni which he arranges well to conform to his lyrics.

The flipside also kicks off with a highlife Mamakyi Nka Mpa No, a mid tempo item followed by Ebusua another highlife, danceable and moving. Once again, one cannot fail to notice the well arranged instrumentation that the tune enjoys. Track three has I Swear on a slow tune followed by the instruments of Kwantuni which rounds up the compilation.

All songs were written and composed by Prof. D and programmed, recorded and mixed by Kweku Mensah at Beat and Promo Studio, Malmo, Sweden. The Executive Producer is John Benson, Sweden and produced by Kaakyire Music Production.

The album launched last week on floats that went through the principal streets of Accra and Kumasi has a US$50 award for all cassettes which contain the autograph of the musician Prof. D.
