A forty-six minute video documentary on former Ghanaian Foreign Minister, Nana Akufo-Addo has been premiered in Accra. About fifty five journalists were invited to witness the Premiere at Alisa hotel in Accra. ‘Pushing the Ghanaian and African Agenda’ is a first-time behind the scenes look at the diplomatic life, role and responsibilities of the former Foreign Minister, who was widely considered to be one of the most effective Foreign Ministers in Africa.
The film contains powerful imagery, thoughtful analysis; a critical look at events in Sudan’s Darfur region, Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia and the Israeli-Lebanese conflicts with frank interviews with Akufo-Addo himself captures the essence of the former Foreign Minister’s person. Speaking to journalists before the premier, the Producer of the film, Jefferson Kwamina Sackey who served as the Media Relations Officer to the former Foreign Minister noted that the film is not just a portrait of Nana Akufo-Addo, but also a portrait of Ghana’s Foreign policy.
As West African correspondent for Deutsche Welle Television, and former international reporter for TV Africa, Jefferson Kwamina Sackey spent most of 2005 reporting from post conflict nations of Liberia and Sierra Leone and later served as Media Relations Officer to Foreign Minister Nana Akufo-Addo,MP. One of his most recent international productions is a sixty minute documentary on former UN Secretary General, Kofi Anna dubbed “Ten Years of Distinctive Diplomacy”, a production that hit the Ghanaian airwaves in December, 2006. He handled the Foreign Minister’s media image, travelled everywhere with him and had unprecedented access to the Foreign Minister on his missions. His camera allowed him to capture Nana Akufo-Addo in offices, meeting room, on planes and even during private moments, to listen in as he shaped Ghana and Africa’s interest in world affairs. The film, Produced by Critical TV will first be telecast on GTV at 9pm on Monday 26th November, 2007 and will soon be available to the general public.
