R2Bees made of Paedae and Mugeez in a latest interview has revealed they were making more money in the streets before they came into music.
Mugeez talking about his Meridian Clothing line revealed;
“Right from my school days, I have been painting and drawing and also did visual arts in high school so when we started this music thing I knew at some point I was going to use that visual arts side of me. Now that I’m famous and all I decided to do was to go back to my day one passion and that’s why I started Meridian Clothing.
“Just like Hip-hop is a worldwide trend everyone is following, out of hip-hop you got designers like ECKO, Phat Farm and others. These days Afrobeats has grown and it's big so we are just trying to spread it out to the fans through all the channels and the clothing is one.
The duo touching on their origin said;
“We are Northerners and from Bimbila and Wulensi in the Northern Region. We mostly talk about concepts we inherited from our predecessors and parents and grandparents and people who started our lives. It doesn’t matter where you come from; you can be whatever you want to be.
“We are citizens of the world and we don’t believe in the divisions. We all go back to Adam and they use all these concepts to divide us.
We don’t believe in religion. We don’t believe in concepts. We are Northerners. We are Dagombas.
“We are cousins and blood related and went to same schools and grew up together so we are inspired by the same things. Nobody can teach you better than you can teach yourself. The rest are all concepts you're taught from a book. We are lucky to come from a community where our parents gave us the freedom to figure things out for ourselves unlike when you are from a strict family. They tell you exactly how to live and behave.
“We are not going to break up because it's also a concept that groups will always break up. We don’t believe in that concept. We know we are humans and will make mistakes, but we are ready to accept each other’s differences.”
Paedae looking back at their debut single that launched them into stardom said;
“Yawa Girl is the reason why we are here today because it took like two to three years to decide whether to do this music thing or not. Because of we were making a lot of money off the streets and to come into the limelight we had to accept we had to leave the streets and stay on the low to be able to be successful in the music.”
