Dancehall singer Charles Nii Armah Mensah (Shatta Wale) can now confidently add “Event MC” to his credentials after an impressive debut performance at colleague Sarkodie’s 2017 Rapperholic concert.

Frank and humorous, the controversial singer, ably assisted by broadcaster Jay Foley, did a splendid job entertaining audiences with jokes and music performances in the execution of his role. Shatta Wale and Sarkodie have enjoyed a longstanding comradery over the years. Hence it was not entirely surprising to see the 'Taking Over' man support Sarkodie in this way.

The fifth-year running, the show came off at the Accra International Conference Centre Monday, December 25, and witnessed groundbreaking performances from Sarkodie himself, as well as a host of Ghanaian and international acts as Kwesi Arthur, Article Wan, King Promise, A.I, Captain Planet, Efya, Becca, Korede Bello, Samini, Obrafour, Joey B, Magnom, B4bonah, Akwaboah Jnr., Teephlow, and Strongman.

A multiple-award-winner, Sarkodie recently released his fifth album “Highest”, which follows Makye (2009), Rapperholic (2012), Sarkology (2014), and Mary (2015). Consisting 18 songs, it features collaborations with both local and international heavyweights as Big Narstie, Victoria Kimani (Kenya), Moelogo (UK), Spoken Word act Suli Breaks (UK), Korede Bello (Nigeria), Praiz (Nigeria), Yung L (Nigeria), Jesse Jagz (Nigeria), Flavour (Nigeria) and Bobii Lewis (UK).

The 2017 Rapperholic concert is a joint collaboration between Sarkodie’s SarkCess Music, and A Team Productions.
