RTP Awards has no credibility - DJ Premier

Bismark Boakye, AKA DJ Premier; a renowned radio personality who has been on radio for over decades right from kumasi and then finally in Accra with Accra based radio station Accra 100.5 FM, sees Radio and Television Personality Awards (RTP) as incredible.

DJ premier revealed he doesn't work as a presenter or DJ for awards, but rather to make good living for himself and his family.

In an exclusive interview with Flex newspaper, DJ Premier said, he lost trust in the organizers of the RTP Awards when they awarded Agyemang Prempeh of Rainbow Radio over Sammy Flex at last year’s edition of the event, when Sammy Flex was all over the country with his show AMPLUZZ on Pluzz FM which was the only entertainment morning show in Ghana with good productions.

''How can you compare a show which is being aired daily to weekly program. This simply shows that the organizers don't know what they are doing with the awards. They are just organizing something for their friends, so why should I involve myself with such awards since I am not their friend'' he stated.

The entertainment show host continued to urge the organizers to be credible with the awards if they want Ghanaians to co-operate with them, as event organizers of awards which is used to honor people who are doing the right job in the media industry. He believes industry players are losing interest because of what is happening.

He also added that, he would not waste his time to pick up a form for nomination since he knows they will not award him after his effort towards the development of showbiz in Ghana.

'Am not saying am the best or my show is better than others. Everybody is doing his or her bit to better the industry, so they should be free and fair in the awards scheme''.

He further said that, he came on radio for the love of the job but not awards. And he has no qualms with anyone if he is not awarded because the awards will not change anything in his career.
