William Ramzy Amui aka Ramzy, first runner-up in the first edition of music reality show, “Stars of the Future” who is now confined within the four corners of the Nsawam Maximum Prison, has assured his fans and Ghanaians that he will come out of Jail and make it again in the music industry.

Ramzy said this in an exclusive interview with Peacefmonline.com Entertainment reporter, Eugene Osafo-Nkansah, during gospel singer Ohemaa Mercy’s visit to the Nsawam prison last Friday April 15, 2011. Ramzy who looked quite boney and was in a plane white T-shirt and black track suit, at the time of our visit said the conditions in prison i.e. the food, where they sleep, clothes they wear among other things in prison are getting worse by the day, but he has gotten used to it now. “It was not easy in the beginning but now I’m surviving”.

Asked what he has to tell his fans who are waiting patiently to see his face again on stage, Ramzy said “Tell them the gold is in the melting stage” I am like melting gold and I am still melting. By the time I finish melting, I will be moulded into an ornament and trust me I will shine like pure gold. I will definitely be out of prison very soon and blow up”. These were Ramsey’s words. He said he has a lot of songs based on his experience in prison and all he has been going through in life so far.

Ramzy also revealed to Peacefmonline.com that even though he is in prison, he still follows current happenings in show business and media circles in Ghana. He said he watched Efya (Jane Awindor) on TV performing during the just ended MTN Ghana Music Awards and he was very happy and impressed with how far she has come.

He said he is very glad that VIP who were off the scene for some time, have come back to win “Artiste of the Year” for the second time. “When I and others were singing in English and Twi in RNB style, people thought Ghanaians will never accept it, but now am happy that people are beginning to understand”. Ramsey was on the maiden edition of “Stars of The Future” with Efya and Irene Logan.

He said he also heard on radio that former first lady of Ghana Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, is aspiring to become the first female president of Ghana which he described as very interesting. Ramzy is one of the most popular singers at the Nsawam Prison currently. He performs in the prison chapel and other available platforms.

He disclosed to Peacefmonline.com, that he is currently one of the top soccer stars in the prison yard. “This is the only prison in the whole of Africa that has a football league, and my team “Block B” is on top of the league with the maximum ten points”, Ramzy revealed. He assured his fans that he is in good health but pleaded for support in prayer and motivation.

He also complained about the fact that his friends and family have abandoned him to his fate in prison, except his mother and a few others. Ramzy said none of his celebrity friends or fellow musicians has been there to visit him or even to extend a hand of care to him, but he added that he is now used to the situation.Ramzy has been jailed for 10 years for conspiracy, armed robbery and dishonesty, out of which he has already spent four years.

Though he has appealed and still waiting for the law to take its course, he is very optimistic that his jail term may be reduced somehow, for him to have his freedom back and come home to his family and friends sooner than we can image. Ramzy, a budding musician, placed a close second at the maiden edition of Stars of the Future, a music reality show organized by Charterhouse in 2006. He also auditioned for the M-net West Africa Idol contest in 2007, in Nigeria.

He returned to Ghana after he qualified to take part in the singing competition but his dreams of being an idol were dashed when he was arrested in February 2007 along with eight others, just days before he was scheduled to go back to Nigeria.
