Few days ago music trio ‘Rana’, released the highly anticipated video to their latest effort ‘Mr. Cupid’ which features TEMA punchline king ‘Opanka’. The video has been met with huge thumbs up from all corners of the entertainment industry.
According to ImajiN Records (home of the trio) in an interview with myjoyonline stated that the high budget visual was directed by Nick Baeta of Jenirex Multimedia Consult, a multimedia outfit in Kumasi.
They went on to further state that the clip was shot with 5D cameras and took six days to complete, more than two months of editing and a gargantuan estimated cost of over 600 million ‘choppable’ cedis ($30,000).
Imajin said an abandoned train station at Asafo, a timber factory at Oforikrom, and a warehouse had to be revamped just for the video shoot alone. One unique feature of the video was the opening scene which was shot at a hilly area in Kimtampo. The well shot scene depicts the trio, made up Selasi Kofi Ocloo (Kofi), Daniel Kojo Soboh (Kojo) and Cornelius Phanthomas (Kobi), falling from the sky like aliens.
With impressive visual effects, costumes and spot on choreography, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the video scoops awards in Ghana or at the MTV Base Music Video Awards, Channel O Awards and other international awards. Rana, which means The Sun in Hausa, has several hits such as Me Luv Letter, Baby Baby and Kiss Me to its credit.
