Reggie Rockstone has been nominated for Best male Artist - West Africa for the track 'Ah' and best African video for 'Ah' for the Kora All Africa Music Awards which will be held on Sunday.

Reggie Ossei, otherwise known by the stage name Reggie Rockstone, is the creator and innovator of the current African language hip-hop music scene. This extremely dynamic artist distinguished himself by being the first to make rap music in his native language Twi, spoken by the Akan and the Ashanti people of west Africa.  

Reggie left Ghana for the United States, specifically New York, with the aim of pursuing his further education, but destiny had decided otherwise and he fell in love with rap music. After some time in New York, Reggie travelled to the United Kingdom and it was during his time in London that he gained a real appreciation for rap music. Together with some of his friend he formed the group PLZ (Parables Linguists & Zlang) and their ht song ?If it Ain?t PLZ? became hugely successful in the UK.

Unfortunately, the young ambitious group was not able to stay together long, due to contract difficulties. They soon separated, following which Reggie returned to Ghana. Reggie is an inspiration for all his country?s youth. In 1997, released his first single entitled ?Makaa Makaa?. This album also made him win the ?President Of Ghanaian Hip Hop and Rap? title.

Reggie?s music has a lot of following in Cote d?Ivoire and South Africa. His second album titled ?Me Na Me Kae? released in January 1999, comprises of many songs in Twi and English. He sold over 2 million copies. He was invited o the RFI in February 2000 during CAN 2000. ? Ma Ka? is the title of his third album.

Reggie Rockstone also loves charity shows for the needy and the handicapped youth, as he says it is the least he can do for the African youth.
