One of the very best rappers Ghana has ever had, Emmanuel Ralph Kotei Niko, famously known as Okra Tom Dawidi, has called on his fellow rappers to take advantage of how lucrative the music industry has become and work around all genres.

According to Okra Tom Dawidi, not everybody loves rap music, so it is advisable for rappers to feature on songs of their colleagues who major in Highlife, Afro Pop, Gospel, RnB, Soul, etc, to widen their fan base.

“Rappers should not be about rap music only, they should be versatile musicians. Even on juju music, they should be able to deliver and survive on it. Not everybody loves rap music, so rappers should feature on other genres of music, because that is the only way to have a variety of listenership. Just make sense with your message and make sure your bars fall on time on every beat,” the Ayeekoo hit maker told Flex newspaper.

He further stated that, Ghana’s music industry has become very lucrative with many investors putting huge sums of money in the career of musicians. This, he said, would soon prompt parents to encourage their kids to take up music as a profession.

“During our time, the game wasn’t as open as it is now. Today people are investing in music, because they’ve realized how beneficial it is. My boy Sarkodie is making me proud and Hiplife/Rap music is presently rocking shoulders with all the other genres, because Kofi Kinaata, TeePhlow, Pappy Kojo and the several other rappers are doing a great job,” Dawidi added.

Contrary to speculations that Okra is struggling to make hit, he debunked rumors of facing challenges with a comeback song and disclosed what has really been up his sleeves all this while.

“I’m not struggling to come out with a hit, neither am I hungry. I have businesses I run and I record songs on a daily basis, but I’m laying low because I want to do it and do it well. I want to run my own affairs and not be exploited like how certain people tried to take advantage of me in the past,” the rapper emphasized.

Okra Tom Dawidi is asking the whole of Ghana to keep their fingers crossed, because he would be coming out hard and loud like a thief in the night very soon.
