Rawlings, Kufuor enjoy classicals

Ex-presidents Jerry John Rawlings and John Agyekum Kufuor were treated to a serenade of classical music at the National Theatre on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Friendship Treaty between Germany and France.

German conductor Markus Baisch and French violinist Frédéric Pélassy were the toast of the day as they made distinguish guests relish the soothing flavor of classical tunes.

On the bill also was German composer Brahms, from Mozart as well as highlights from the French opera “Carmen” by Bizet.

French Ambassador Frédéric Clavier and German Chargé d’affaires Thomas Wimmer were also present to stress on the importance of French-German relations, which will not only be important for the history of the integration of Europe but also for today’s European and global challenges.

For Ghanaians present to feel at home and dance to local tunes, the National Symphony Orchestra, the Tema Youth Choir and Opera Singers were present satisfy them.

The joy of the night was not only enjoyed by those present at the Theatre, a hand was extended to some children.

Proceedings from ticket sale would be donated to two organizations working with children - Anani Memorial School in Nima and Jay Nii Street Wise Foundation in Jamestown.
