Former president Jerry John Rawlings is one of the most admired leaders Ghana has ever had. Even after close to 20 years since he finished his term of office, Rawlings still has a lot of followers.

This is due to his charismatic nature and the way he sets out to serve the poor and downtrodden in society.

Once again, former president Rawlings has won admiration with his down-to-earth attitude.

In a new video sighted by YEN.com.gh, Rawlings was spotted trying to help some women prepare akple.

Rawlings approached the women who had put a big cauldron (dadesen) full of water on fire and were pouring the akple powder into it.

As Rawlings got there, the women gave him the wooden spatula (banku ta) and he took over to stir the food. A few seconds later, the former president repositioned himself in order to do the stirring job very well.

Rawlings' gesture excited the women and other people present who could be heard speaking Ewe.

Rawlings, YEN.com.gh gathers, attended the Ho akple festival and the video was likely taken from there.

Rawlings' latest video comes just about three months after pictures of him directing traffic in Accra popped up on the internet.

In those photos published by YEN.com.gh, the former president was seen standing in the middle of the road with cars on either side of him as he directed the cars to bring a traffic jam under control.
