Accra, March 20, GNA - Professor Ama Ata Aidoo, a renowned author and playwright on Thursday launched a book titled "Reflections -A Journey Towards Peace". It is a compilation of reflections which were broadcast on radio and television in the late 1980's.

Prof. Aidoo said the ideas contained in the book, based as they were on the thoughts from a very deeply religious mind, were what "we would have the right to expect". "Yet the book is not a tract, indeed not only does the author himself not sound dogmatic, he seems quiet aware to see a world where there is understanding and opportunities of the different religions by their leaders," she said. Prof. Aidoo suggested that the book be used as a supplementary textbook in both second and tertiary institutions in the country's education.

She said it was a must read for all irrespective of their age, religion, sex, and educational background as it was written in simple English. Speaking at the launch, the author, Maulvi Abdul Wahab Adam, Ameer and Missionary-in-charge of Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Ghana, said he decided to put together his reflections in a book because of the impact that each piece made on men ,women, young and old, shape their thoughts , change their attitudes and spur them on to action. He said in one of the themes in the book, he reflected on the beauty of a garden, in the diversity of the size of its trees, and the colours of its flowers as well as the charm of the fragrances of the flowers in the garden.

"What all this brings to mind, very strongly, is the wise creator's way of using diversity to enrich the world and not to create anguish and pain." he said.

Maulvi Wahab Adam said the book was his humble contribution to the enrichment of the world in thought and action. He said he had an abiding gratitude, respect and affection for his mother and this feeling had been involuntarily extended to all women, wherever they might be in the world, "the book is therefore, meant to celebrate womanhood, her worth, beneficence and the blessing that she constitutes to the world". Maulvi Wahab Adam said proceeds from the sale of the book would be used for humanitarian causes especially education as he has a foundation "Aisha Foundation" formed to honour the memory of his mother.
