A heated argument ensued between gospel musician, Philippa Baafi and Hitz FM presenter, Frank Kwabena Owusu (Franky5) last Friday following a comment the latter passed on the former during the Showbiz Review segment of the Daybreak Hitz show, hosted by Andy Dosty.

Phillipa Baafi was reported to have remarked that creativity in the gospel music circles had dwindled during her interview on Life FM.

“People do not create nowadays. The creativity in the industry is going down. If we are creative, the up and coming ones will follow our steps. It is a creative industry and we need to be more creative. Refurbishing old songs is not the best. Let’s go back to our root, work hard and be creative enough.”

Commenting on the issue, Franky5 who was one of the panelists averred that it was unfair for a musician who has been conspicuously missing in action to make such assertions.

He noted that the likes of Nacee, Akese Brempong have great compositions and should be given the needed recognition.

“She’s been put on relegation for some time so if she is making any argument on current subject, I’d expect that she should have a record that can stand the test of time and can be compared to what is being done now,” he said.

Unhappy about the submission, Phillipa Baafi who had been raised on phone to throw more light on her assertion responded, telling Franky5 to research before he speaks.

She argued that she had released songs this year and embarked on a health campaign as part of her social responsibility.

“From 2007, I have been releasing and by the grace of God, my albums are doing well. Currently, we are promoting ‘Mede Bema Wo’. So if he says I’m relegated, I think it’s not fair. It means you’re not even up to date,” she fumed.

A reply from Franky5 somewhat wrote Phillipa Baafi off, Abrantepa.com observed.

“I’m the host of ‘This Is Gospel’ on Hitz FM and my show happens to be one of the most listened to shows in Accra. And I have not put you on my chat yet so it means you need to work harder,” he pointed out.

“And I don’t know you. Listen, that is how the world is. I don’t know you, I don’t know anything about you. What about that? You’re now telling me you’re a host of a show; I don’t know you,” Phillipa Baafi rebutted.
