Ghanaian hiplife artiste, Darlington Kwasi Agyekum, known in showbiz as D.Cryme, has told radio and television presenters in Ghana to show respect to artistes when they appear on their programmes for interviews.

According to him, some presenters have gained notoriety for speaking harshly to artistes when they fail to report on time for interviews, a situation he believes is worrying.

Although he admits that reporting late for interviews is a disturbing phenomenon, D.Cryme said sometimes circumstances beyond the control of artistes, result in their late reporting, for which they must be pardoned.

He told Bismarck Boachie (DJ Premier) on the Entertainment Capital show on Accra 100.5 FM that: “If you invite me into your radio station, my fans also listen to your station and help build your brand. Gone are the days when we used to have just one radio station but now there are so many stations and so the competition is great.

“So if its interview time and the artiste is late, at the end of the day, we should know how to deal with it.

“This is a profession and there is no consideration, I don’t think anybody just wakes up and enters a studio for interview, the stations are not doing the artistes a favour because artistes’ presence in the studios also helps build the station’s brand.”

He also entreated musicians to endeavour to communicate with the producers to explain if they are unable to honour an invitation at any point in time.

“To the artistes also, if you know you can’t make it, call and apologise to the station, don’t feel that at the end of the day you have many choices, and, so, you won’t apologise,” he cautioned.
