In the wake of the shocking news of Akua Donkor's passing, the leader of the Ghana Freedom Party, her running mate, former Highlife artist Kwabena Agyeman Appiah Kubi, known as Roman Fada, has shared his memories of the final moments leading up to her demise.

In an interview with Hitz FM on October 29, 2024, Roman Fada revealed that he first learned of her illness on the evening of Saturday, October 26, 2024.

"We spoke on Saturday around 10:30 or 11:00 am for over two hours. Later that evening, her driver called to inform me that she was not feeling well and they were heading to a government hospital. After about three hours, he called back to say they had returned home and that she was okay," he recounted.

Unfortunately, her condition worsened, and she was rushed to the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, also known as Ridge Hospital, early Monday morning.

"It was around 1 am on Monday when they kept updating me. By 3:30 or 4:00 am, they informed me they were still at Ridge Hospital. I visited her around 1 pm yesterday and left around 3:30 pm," he said.

Tragically, by 10:00 pm that night, he received the heartbreaking news: "I got a call that our mom is no more."

When asked if other party members were aware, Roman Fada mentioned encountering several party members upon his arrival at the hospital.

"When I heard of her demise, I arrived at the hospital around 10:30 or 11:00 pm. I saw the general secretary, Uncle George, along with some family members and other party executives, including Senior Cabrera," he added.

The news of Akua Donkor's passing flooded social media in the early hours of Tuesday morning, with many netizens expressing their condolences to her family.

At 83 years old, Akua Donkor was number 3 on the ballot paper for the 2024 elections and was actively preparing for the upcoming polls, with nearly 39 days left.

She had promised free vehicles for journalists, duty-free port services for the clearance of goods, free education, and improved remuneration for farmers, among other policies she aimed to implement if elected in the 2024 elections.

Tributes are pouring in from netizens, family, loved ones, and supporters of her party.
