A celebrity journalist and film- maker; Mantse aryiquaye has stressed the need for the employment of creativity and innovation in the works of Ghanaian artists.

He was speaking at the maiden forum for an alternative Ghanaian music held last week in Accra which brought together many stakeholders in the entertainment industry of Ghana.

Mantse enunciated that the forum which will be periodically organised, was a timely response to the passionate yearn for an optional feature, other than the normal trend of music genres which he said has undermined the creative potentials of artistes for a very long time in the country.

Emmanuel Dickson Osei-Yaw also known as DK; a pan African Afro-beat musician present at the forum was of the view that, the works of artistes should be a true reflection of their talents as musicians and not necessarily following a particular dimension which is primarily commercial driven. He added that the only sine qua non for the creation of a solid and an enviable music industry is for artists to create original produces which is being vivified by an inner artistic drive.

Also present was Panji Anoff; who expressed worry about the poor promotion of such authentic music by some presenters and DJs whom he said, have become monomaniacs with the generic genres of music, creating a state of mediocre in artists. He called on them to appreciate and promote alternative works which empirically has been proven to be original and insuperable.

However In an interview, Nana Darkoa sekyiamah, head of business development of a fashion firm; Maksi Clothing, revealed that, it was not necessary to produce a different trend of music which would be arguably labeled as alternative, nevertheless, artists should be committed to building a firm legacy for themselves by producing good music which would be able to stand the test of time and would inspire a new generation. She charged musicians in the country to explore their artistic potentials and make it manifest in their workpieces.
