Ghanaian musician Sista Afia has weighed in on the Ghana Football Association's decision to part ways with Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, describing the timing of the sacking as ‘inappropriate.’

Reacting to the development in a post on Facebook, the singer made clear that while she was sharing a personal view, she felt the decision was not the right call at this point in time.

"I don't believe that changing Coach Otto Addo at this time is the most appropriate decision. This is just my personal opinion," she said.

What celebrities have said about the Black Stars’ consecutive defeats

The GFA confirmed it had parted ways with Otto Addo as head coach of the senior national team on March 30, 2026 after two embarrassing defeats at the hands of Austria and Germany in pre-World Cup friendly matches. The departure comes at a critical period, with Ghana preparing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The artiste had earlier made a passionate appeal to the GFA and key stakeholders to be considered for a role in supporting the Black Stars ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

She had pointed out her long-standing support for the national team and her consistent use of her platform to promote Ghanaian football both locally and internationally.

The GFA is yet to announce a replacement for Otto Addo as the Black Stars prepare for their World Cup campaign.
