Sales boy arraigned for stealing from shop

Tema, Jan. 28, GNA- A man broke into the store he was supposed to be keeping and stole electrical gadgets, was on Wednesday put before a circuit court in Tema.

Charles Owusu pleaded not guilty to stealing and was granted bail in the sum of 25 million cedis by the circuit Court. He will re-appear on January 30, 2004.

Police Chief Inspector Sarah Acquah, prosecuting, told the court, presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu, that on November 11, 2003, Madam Tina Biney employed Owusu as sales boy in her electrical gadgets shop at community 18 junction in Tema.

The following day, thieves broke into the shop and made away with some of the appliances including stereo systems, Compact Disc decks, speakers, all estimated at 10.5 million cedis. Inspector Acquah said two weeks later, Madam Biney had information that Owusu was selling some of the stereo systems secretly, and when he was confronted, he allegedly admitted that he stole Kenwood sound systems and two speakers from the shop.
